The Locust Fork Band
The Locust Fork Band is 46 years old! Through those 46 years, members have come and gone, but most of the original members still form the group. The band was formed in 1974 with Dwight Williams on bass, Bill Marshall and Kent Peterson on guitars and Asa Gaston on drums. Nida Threet joined in 1976 and Rick Byrd on pedal steel became a part of the group in 1994. Because of health issues, Asa retired in 2003 and Robert Churchill became the drummer. This is the group that remains today and continues to play together forming a great sound and provides their fans with fun times.
Whenever the band plays, many of their old friends come out to join the fun as well as new- comers which the band always welcomes. The memories are wonderful and the chance to make new ones are what keep the band together. With the years of playing together, the group makes a great sound with harmonizing guitars, the melodic sound of the pedal steel and vocal harmonies that come naturally. To classify the band’s sound is difficult since it covers Rhythm & Blues, Western Swing and Southern Rock all in one. After 46 years, making this music is still fun and incredibly enjoyable for the members as well as the audience! Here’s to many more years to come!
